Our Story

A home-based program built on small litters, health-first breeding, and a family that never stops caring once a puppy goes home.

Karen Thomas, founder of Thomas Dachshunds Puppies, with one of her dogs

Meet Karen

Thomas Dachshunds Puppies began over a decade ago in Karen Thomas's own living room, with a single rescued dachshund named Chip and a promise to do right by every dog that came after him. What started as one family's love for the breed has grown into a small, dedicated home-based program — but the philosophy hasn't changed: fewer litters, more attention, and every puppy raised underfoot as part of the family.

Karen still handles every enquiry personally, still whelps every litter in the house, and still remembers the name of every puppy she's ever placed. If you reach out, you're not talking to a sales team — you're talking to the person who raised your future best friend.

Why We Breed

The values that guide every decision, from pairing parents to placing puppies.

Health First

Every parent in our program is health-tested before breeding, and we make decisions based on what's best for the dog — not the litter count.

Small, Intentional Litters

We limit ourselves to just a few litters a year so every puppy — and every parent — gets the individual attention they deserve.

Raised Underfoot

Puppies are born and raised inside our home, surrounded by everyday sounds, people, and gentle handling from day one.

Lifelong Relationships

Our job doesn't end at pickup. We stay in touch for the life of your dog, and we're always happy to hear how they're doing.

Where Our Puppies Grow Up

Every litter is born and raised inside our home — never in a kennel or outbuilding.
